HISTORY
Mr Samuel Yik is the Founder and Managing Director of Y.E.S F&B Group, Dian Xiao Er. Mr Yik has always had the entrepreneurial streak in him. He didn’t come from a wealthy family, but he was always savvy in looking for new ways to turn a profit. For example, in his younger days when fighting fish were all the rage, he would buy these fish in bulk and sold them to his schoolmates for profit. When his friends were collecting stamps, he ordered complete collections and sold individual pieces to them.

That business acumen has carried over to today, and Mr Yik is now the owner of Dian Xiao Er, which has grown in 15 years from a single outlet with 9 workers, to 13 stores with over 300 employees. Despite being the owner of one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in Singapore, Mr Yik began his career as an auditor and accountant for 6 years, and did not undergo any professional F&B training. He did however possess the resourcefulness, tenacity, and a wholehearted desire to learn.

DIAN XIAO ER
Dian Xiao Er is a quick-casual Chinese ethnic restaurant concept that’s well known for their signature Herbal Roast Duck. The eatery has 12 outlets in Singapore and 1 in Shanghai, China, that just opened its doors this year.

By serving simple yet wholesome and nutritious meals, Dian Xiao Er aims to be the next best alternative to home-cooked food, specialising in wok-fry and cook-to-order Chinese cuisine. Over the years, they have developed a highly efficient operational system with prompt and attentive service. They also believe that customers are the heart of their business, which allows them to focus their efforts on delivering professional and excellent service each and every time.

ACHIEVEMENTS
In 15 years, Dian Xiao Er has achieved a multitude of accolades that reflects its quality and excellence in service. In 2007, the restaurant won the Singapore Prestige Brand Award and in 2012, Mr Yik was recognised as an Honouree at the SOE Awards. In 2013, the brand clinched the Epicurean Star Award for Singapore’s Best Chinese Restaurant in the Casual Dining category and later in 2015 and 2016 the restaurant won the Singapore Service Class Award and the Singapore E50 Award respectively. The brand has also bagged the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for three years.

I am delighted to announce that this year, Mr Yik has been conferred the SOE-Nexia TS Best Entrepreneur of the Year.

GIVING
Mr Yik believes in giving back to the society, and is a strong advocate of non-profit organisations such as Life Community Services Society and Focus on the Family, which foster strong community bonds and reach out to the less fortunate.
