Receiving the SOE Award in 2023 was incredibly affirming. Beyond the honour itself, it connected me with a fantastic network of fellow entrepreneurs and mentors. Winning the Spirit of Enterprise (SOE) Award and SOE-Dian Xiao Er Social Contributions Award in 2020/2021 was a turning point — both personally and professionally. It validated nearly three decades of perseverance, integrity, and service. In the darkest moments, especially post-COVID, it reminded me why I started — not just to build a business, but to build people, impact communities, and leave a legacy. For Win-Pro, the prestigious award became a trust signal. It opened doors to new partnerships, high-level networks, and elevated brand credibility. It gave our team renewed confidence and inspired us to scale beyond Singapore and Malaysia. It wasn’t just an award — it was a mirror that reflected how far we’d come and a beacon that showed us how far we could still go.
They have learnt to draw up a business proposal, learnt the concept of enterprise and social enterprise. They learnt to innovate and come up with products to meet the needs. Teamwork and creativity also in the skills they learnt. Using these skills, the pupils had come up with interesting ideas for their fund-raising event for the elderly. It was indeed very beneficial for the pupils as the programme could cater and customize to our school needs.
The SIP Programme gave me insight into how a company can start with a vision and grow through consistent, daily work toward its goals.
School cannot be the only place you learn. You have to learn from life, from people. Because [learning] isn’t just about business, it’s about your life as well.
The programme has taught me that entrepreneurs are just like you and I, except they have much more courage and a vision to thrive.
Being recognised as an SOE Honouree was a deeply meaningful milestone in my entrepreneurial journey. It allowed me to reflect on my growth, connect with like-minded individuals, and share my story to inspire others. The SOE community is a powerful platform that celebrates resilience and innovation. I am truly grateful for the experience and proud to be part of this network that uplifts and encourages the next generation of entrepreneurs.
Students learnt to communicate and work together as a group to achieve team goals. They also learnt how to do planning and budgeting to establish an enterprise. Such fundamental learning would be useful for them to apply in their VIA projects and future financial advancement even if they do not plan to be entrepreneurs.
They have learnt the basics of a business plan. They have applied these skills in planning activities for the school’s Fund raising day where they create a plan to set up a stall. The enthusiasm of the instructors has motivated the students. Some of the activities e.g. building a structure got the students to work as a team.
The programme, which is conducted by coach Ayuri, is certainly very engaging and enjoyable. I can see from students’ active participation when they are in group discussion and presentation.
